Ranveer Singh Bhavnani (born 6 July 1985) is a prominent Indian actor in Hindi cinema, celebrated for his dynamic performances and unique fashion sense. Among the highest-paid actors in India, Singh has received several accolades, including five Filmfare Awards, and has been a regular feature on Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list since 2012.
After graduating from Indiana University Bloomington, Singh worked in advertising before making his acting debut with the romantic comedy *Band Baaja Baaraat* (2010). His performance earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He gained recognition for his role as a melancholic thief in *Lootera* (2013) and rose to stardom through his collaborations with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. These included the romantic drama *Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela* (2013) and the historical epics *Bajirao Mastani* (2015) and *Padmaavat* (2018). His portrayal of Bajirao I in *Bajirao Mastani* earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor, while his role as Alauddin Khilji in *Padmaavat* won him the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor.
Singh expanded his commercial appeal with the action film *Simmba* (2018) and garnered further acclaim with award-winning performances in *Gully Boy* (2019), where he played an aspiring rapper, and *83* (2021), portraying cricket legend Kapil Dev. After a series of commercially underwhelming films, he made a comeback with the romantic comedy *Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani* (2023).
Outside of films, Singh has hosted the game show *The Big Picture* (2021–2022) and is a sought-after brand endorser. He is married to actress Deepika Padukone, his frequent co-star, and the couple has a daughter. Known for his vibrant personality and flamboyant fashion, Singh is a trendsetter both on and off-screen.
