Hanuman vs Mahiravana

**Review Summary: *Hanuman vs. Mahiravana***

*Hanuman vs. Mahiravana* brings to life one of the most thrilling yet underexplored episodes of the *Ramayana*, showcasing Hanuman’s cleverness and strength in rescuing Rama and Lakshmana from the clutches of Mahiravana, a sorcerer with ambitions of unparalleled power. Produced by Gamaya and Green Gold Animation, this 3D animated film marks a significant effort in elevating Indian animation to tell epic tales in an engaging and visually captivating way.

The narrative immerses viewers in the climactic battle of the *Ramayana*, where Ravana, nearing defeat, enlists his stepbrother Mahiravana to turn the tide. Mahiravana, a master of the occult, captures Rama and Lakshmana and spirits them away to an underground realm, intending to sacrifice them to goddess Mahamaya for ultimate power. Hanuman’s journey to rescue them is an adventure packed with challenges, including natural and magical traps reminiscent of *Indiana Jones*. The plot extends beyond the rescue, providing a backstory for Mahiravana and setting up possibilities for future sequels.

The animation impresses with well-designed characters and environments, from the eerie tree monster to Lord Vayu, Hanuman’s divine father. While it lacks the polish of international studios, the quality is commendable, especially considering the budget constraints. The 3D elements add depth to the visuals, making the action sequences particularly engaging. However, the film falters slightly during a dream sequence featuring Rama and Sita, where the lip-syncing doesn’t match the otherwise striking imagery.

Releasing the film during the school season and amidst FIFA World Cup fever may impact its reach, but *Hanuman vs. Mahiravana* deserves recognition as a commendable effort in Indian animation. It tells an engaging, child-friendly story that balances action, mythology, and imagination, making it an entertaining watch for families and a step forward for Indian animated storytelling.
